Couples Intensive
Is it time to explore a more intensive option for your marriage?
Are you experiencing ongoing conflict, tension, and unhappiness in your relationship? Are you struggling with resentment and loneliness? Have you tried everything you know to try…yet end up in the same old argument time and again?
Is your marriage in crisis following a betrayal or other stressor?
Perhaps you are wondering where the man or woman you love went. Maybe it feels like you’re not sure you know them anymore…and perhaps they don’t know you either…
It can be difficult when it feels like no matter what you and your partner do, nothing seems to effectively address the rift between you. Both of you are suffering silently with feelings of anger, shame, and resentment, causing the moments you and your partner do engage to be fraught with tension. No longer are you able to enjoy each other’s company, let alone plan for your future, parent your children, or even have sex, and it’s becoming increasingly uncomfortable to maintain a sense of hope for your future together.
Regardless of what has led your marriage to this place, a couples intensive may be something to consider. Private couples intensive weekends offer uninterrupted time and space so your relationship has a chance to more deeply explore and overcome the challenges you face together.

I Specialize In Intensive Couples Therapy Retreats
Couples intensives through my practice are 3 days in a row, Friday through Sunday, for 3 to 4 hours each day. They are available to couples experiencing any form of crisis or ongoing conflict in their marriage, though I specialize in marriages that have encountered challenges with infidelity, sexual issues, and/or neurodivergence.
Sessions are held in-person in both Colorado and Georgia. And before beginning this process, we will schedule an assessment to determine the scope and treatment approach for your intensive. It may include personality testing, brain training for a more regulated CNS prior to the intensive, and evaluation of other brain healing modalities.
My Unique Approach Includes:
- 3 to 4 hour daily sessions for three days
- Professional grade, at home neurofeedback prior to the intensive so you can maximize your brain (and maximize your results)
- Assessment prior to arrival
- Psychedelic assisted psychotherapy consultation
If Your Marriage Is In Crisis, Know That You Aren’t Alone
Hope Is Possible
Every relationship goes through significant and painful challenges and crises. Each of us enter our marriages with certain expectations and relational blueprints that, when at odds with our partners’, can lay the groundwork for a great deal of pain. It is surely not pain you have asked for, but there is nothing like the pain of betrayal in a marriage that has the same power to transform you…and your spouse…and your marriage. Whether you are dealing with emotional and physical infidelity or some other form of betrayal (financial, social, parenting, extended family), it will be essential to learn to trust one self again, whether you are the betrayed or the betrayer. A couples intensive with us is a powerful way to lay the foundation for your personal and marital success.
The 7 Keys To Free Your Relationship
Shame—or doubt about the effectiveness of therapy—keeps a lot of couples from seeking help. They worry about what needing help says about their relationship, and they often have concerns about confidentiality, especially if a betrayal is involved.
An intensive is a private, confidential atmosphere where couples of all backgrounds and experiences can access the benefits of several months of therapy in the span of a weekend. By working through my signature 7-key process of freeing your mind and relationship after betrayal, you will gain the ability to:
Pause
Understand what it takes to have self-trust
Identify the emotional vortex that keeps pulling you in
Learn the four stages of change and how to navigate them
Use anger and fear for healing
Relieve the isolation of shame
Access evidence-based approaches to heal the trauma in the brain
Has There Been Infidelity In Your Relationship?
If you and your partner are reeling from infidelity, you may be feeling panicked about what the betrayal says about your relationship. All the breathing exercises in the world can’t help you get to a place of calm and clarity, making every day feel like a revolving door of questions like How did this happen? Who is my partner really? Why did I do this to them? Why was this done to me? Both of you are trapped in a cycle of blaming yourselves and each other, and your anger is manifesting in a way that feels destructive rather than healing or productive.
As a therapist who specializes in working with couples whose relationships have suffered an infidelity, I get it—it is possible you feel so angry and confused right now that you can’t even imagine feeling cooped up with your partner for a weekend as you dig into what happen and how it’s affecting your marriage. You may have even tried therapy in the past but are skeptical.
You’re here, though, because a part of you is curious if a couples intensive can be an effective way to come to a resolution and learn to communicate again. I am confident that my highly individualized approach to intensive couples therapy has the potential to provide transformative insights, a new pathway to self-respect and self-trust, and better ways to communicate.
My Approach
Intensives are designed to address PTSD, how to break out of repetitive and destructive cycles, and common misconceptions of what it takes to rebuild trust in the marriage. This offers you a chance to determine if you want to stay married as you identify core issues and the barriers in place that keep you from moving forward.
Targeting trauma is a key part of this process, as it is essential for you to move forward. In the assessment period, we will determine if a 4-week Neurofeedback program will be incorporated to reduce panic attacks, improve sleep, and heal underlying trauma (for more information about how this this therapy works, visit my Neurofeedback page).
My approach to couples intensives is compassionate and direct. It can help you tap into the healing potential of your anger in a way that brings you and your partner closer. And unlike other one-size-fits-all intensives, I aim to create an entirely individualized experience that honors the unique needs you have as a couple, and as individuals. My intensives are done in a safe environment where you can go deeper and maintain a sustained focus on yourself, your marriage, and what your future together looks like.
Still Unsure If Your Marriage Can Benefit From An Intensive?
What are some of the common issues that bring couples to intensive therapy?
There are many reasons why a couple might want to schedule a marriage intensive, including betrayal, ongoing conflict, sexual issues, and as a last-ditch effort before considering divorce. Infidelity is a common example of betrayal, but there are other betrayals—including financial betrayal or instances wherein one partner feels like they are doing more than their fair share of the labor at home.
My services are also well-suited for couples where one or both partners are neurodiverse. If you and/or your partner experiences challenges related to autism or ADHD that are making your differences feel irreconcilable, an intensive is a great opportunity to devote focused attention to your marriage.
Are there any issues for which you would not recommend intensive couples therapy?
Intensive therapy is not recommended for couples experiencing domestic violence and abuse, addiction, or severe mental illness. I also won’t work with couples wherein the affair is openly ongoing.
A New Way Of Communicating Is Possible
If your marriage is struggling from the fallout of betrayal and/or chronic disagreement, a couples therapy intensive through my practice is a meaningful way to go far quickly on the path to recovery.
For more information, contact me. In-person sessions are available to clients throughout Colorado and Georgia.
